I’d like to tell you that I’m this infinitely interesting, mysterious person living the gritty yet glamorous life I assume all other writers but me lead. Right now I’m somewhere in between — “grimorous” I guess you could say.

In truth, I’m diligent, obnoxious, stubborn, serious, and most of the time quite cheery. I’m extremely analytical and believe in strict routines, which sometimes does more harm than good. I could also live off of ice cream if required.

I was born in Edmonds, Washington in 1982 and raised in Anacortes — a sleepy town in the San Juan Islands. I have three younger sisters who all have blonde hair. For some reason this unsettles me. School was mostly a pleasant experience, especially elementary. My report cards said things like “Jordan is a perfectionist, always striving to do her best. As a result she does wonderful work, but is continually behind,” or “Jordan is a pleasant student, but she enjoys being a wallflower more than an active participant.”

Middle school and high school was a different story, however, and I became very distant. By the time I was 16 I couldn’t stand school, so spent my junior year in France — the shortest year of longest days in my life. The experience was surreal, unreal, and excruciating, and would later spawn pieces with titles like “When I Died in France,” and “Au Revior Tout le Monde” during my university years. After returning home I tried high school for a week, but ultimately refused to go back. So I started college instead, and at 19 began Prince Ezrick.

Since then I graduated from high school with my two-year degree, transferred to Western Washington University (majoring in English — Creative Writing and minoring in French), and worked at Puffin Books in Manhattan. Ezrick tagged along the entire way though, and was impossible to get rid of. His getting into trouble kept me out of it, and through much sacrifice and hard work I’m finally able to share his story with you — which is where my story ends.
